A surface assessment tool used to determine the depth of infill in an artificial turf system or athletics track. Needles on the end of a plunger penetrate infill material enabling the depth of infill material on the test surface to be measured. Infill depth is measured in increments of 1mm from 1mm – 50mm on the plunger scale. To use the Depth Probe the operator places the tool on the turf surface so that its base is flat against the surface. The plunger is pushed downwards pushing the pins into the surface until it can be pushed no further. The displacement of the pins into the surface allows the infill depth to be measure on the plunger scale.
