The STE Sprung Traction is used to measure the rotational resistance (traction) of natural, hybrid and artificial turf sports surfaces. Traction is a critical player/surface interaction which has a significant role in player performance and injury risk. A spring housed in the device applies a consistent and repeatable force to a stud plate onto the surface and the surfaces resistance to rotating the studded plate is measured via a digital torque gauge.
